Bilirubin and the polarographic Brdicka reaction.

چکیده
The bilirubin-albumin solution containing 16 ing/100 ml of bilirubin and 2.5 g/100 ml of albumin was made according to Shinowara (i). The blank solution without bilirubin contained the same amount of albumin as the test solution. The Brdicka ilonfiltrate reaction was carried out as follows (2): 0.1 nil of test/blailk solution was added to 1.4 ml of 0.9% (w/v) NaC1 solution, and 1.5 ml of 0.25 N NaOH solution was added. The mixture was placed in a water bath (18-20#{176}) and a sample of 0.1 ml from tile mixture was pipetted to 4.0 ml of Brdicka HC0+3 solution, and polarographed between -0.8 to -1.7 using silver wire as anode. The samples for polarography were taken immediately, and then 10, 20, 30, and 45 mm following the addition of NaOH. The height of the second peak of protein double wave was measured. The results which are means of two series are presented in Fig 1.

متن کاملBrdicka currents observed with bovine serum albumin and completely reduced bovine serum albumin in the presence of urea.
In ammonia buffers of varying composition and pH, native bovine serum albumin and completely reduced bovine serum albumin, denoted by p(SH)35, yield quite different Brdicka current-voltage (i-E) curves, but they are identical in the presence of 5 mM calcium chloride. This means that in the presence of calcium, bovine serum albumin becomes completely reduced to p(SH)35. In 8 M urea and ammonia b...
متن کاملPolarographic Studies of Human Blood Sera
R. BrdiEka, in 1937, in a note to the editor of Nature (1), reported the application of the polarographic method to cancer diagnosis, through the measurement of certain sulphur-containing amino acids present in the proteins in human blood serum. Brdicka made tests on the serum from 67 different persons; 32 of these gave an abnormally low polarographic protein effect. These 32 cases were shown b...
متن کاملDIFFERENTIAL PULSE POLAROGRAPHIC DETERMINATION OF OSMIUM BY CATALYSIS OF PYROGALLOL-RED BROMATE REACTION
A highly sensitive differential pulse polarographic (DPP) method has been developed for the determination of trace amounts of osmium, based on the catalytic effect of osmium (VIII) on the oxidation of pyrogallol red (PGR) by sodium bromate at pH 7.00 and 25.0 0.1 ? C. The reaction rate was monitored by measuring the differential pulse cathodic current of the oxidation product of PGR and broma...
